Vavilov’s recordings:
The story of this work becomes more interesting as I investigate more about it. there is the original version recorded by the composer himself(Vladimir Vavilov). You can watch it here:

Starring: Vavilov, Vladimir; on the lute, Mark Shakhin on organ and the voice of Nadezhda Weiner; It was recorded in 1970.

Apparently the work is part of a collection of pieces composed by the same author, but almost all of them were attributed to ancient composers, with the full approval of the producers. Everything seems to indicate that Vavíllov, wanted his art to be better known than his name, this fact is proved in this vinyl titled "Лютневая музыка XVI-XVII веков", the English title is: "Lute music of the XVI centuries -XVII ", it contains, among others, the famous" Ave Maria "by Caccini.

Ave maria: lyrics and versions

The Annunciation by Leonardo da Vinci
The Annunciation by Leonardo da Vinci
Ave maría, vladímir vavílov
The Ave Maria prayer is composed of two parts: The announcement of the Angel Gabriel to Mary: "Ave Maria, gratia plena ..." and a second part, containing the "Sancta Maria, mater Dei...", corresponds to a fragment of the Catholic prayers , to complete the prayer.
The version of Vavílov, in addition to those of Bach / Gounod and that of Schubert, sis one of the 3 most well known Avemarias, but if you want to know a lot of versions and realted works, I recommend the incredible store at http://www.avemariasongs.org/ In its homepage they indicate more than 4000, although variations and arrangements for different instruments are included, it is still a generous source of versions, they are ordered by composer’s name.

It doesn't Caccini’s style?
The work of Vavilov, although it is not framed within the style of composition of the 20th century, some experts suggest that does not correspond either even far, to the style of Giulio Caccini, which makes it paradoxical that a lot of people have accepted such authorship as genuine. From the perspective of musical analysis, the piece is strongly defined in a tonal structure *, which was more typical of the late classical period and the romantic period. In the time of Caccini, the works were  typically composed in the modal form.

* In the time of Caccini, the compositions were characterized by harmonizing modal, ie identifiable within groups of successions of sounds called "modes". After the Baroque, most of the music was written "Tonal", that is to say, based in a major or minor way, but transportable to 12 different tones
